Auto Insurance Terms Bodily Injury and Property Damage With this auto insurance plan, liability coverage is paid to the person with whom you were involved in an accident. For example, you carry $100,000 and 300,000 bodily injury limits and $100,000 property damage limits, and you are involved in an accident and the other person is injured. Your insurance would cover up to $100,000 worth of injuries to a single person, up to $300,000 total per accident, and up to $100,000 for damages to the other person's vehicle.
Uninsured Motorist This gives bodily injury protection to you and your passengers if you are involved in an accident with someone who is uninsured or in a hit-and-run. It does not include property damage.
Underinsured Motorist This gives bodily injury protection to you and your passengers if you are in an accident with someone who does not have adequate bodily injury coverage. This coverage would be used when the dollar amount of your injuries is greater than what the other person's coverage is.

Medical Payments With this auto insurance coverage, you are provided medical or funeral expenses for you and your passengers if involved in an accident and someone is injured or killed. It also covers you and members of your family that are injured while riding in another vehicle.
Comprehensive Your vehicle is protected from damage caused by fire, theft, glass breakage, weather damage, or animal collision with our comprehensive auto insurance. This coverage from Hudson Insurance Agency carries a deductible, unless a zero deductible is requested. You may be required to carry this coverage if you have a loan on your vehicle.
Collision This protects your vehicle if it collides with another object—in most cases, another vehicle. It also carries a deductible, with limits based on an actual cash value basis. You may be required to carry this coverage if you have a loan on your vehicle.
Personal Injury Protection Personal injury protection is required for Minnesota residents due to a Minnesota state law that states that individuals injured in an accident are required to pay their own medical expenses. You can carry this coverage—not medical payments.

Home & Property Insurance Terms Business Conducted on Premises This coverage may be added to your homeowner policy when there is an in-home business in your home. It provides additional liability coverage for business products, services, and clients that come to your residence.

Wrongful Death Lawsuit On April 1, 1998, the Wisconsin Legislature passed a law raising the limits of wrongful death actions. The law states that if a person causes the wrongful death of another person, a monetary award can be given to the family of the deceased. The amounts that can be awarded are up to $350,000 for the death of an adult and $500,000 for the death of a child. This means if you are involved in an accident that takes the life of a person(s), you (and your insurance company) may be legally liable for a minimum payment of $350,000 to the survivors of an adult victim or $500,000 to a child's survivors. Additionally, payments may also be awarded for pecuniary loss (funeral expenses, medical costs) to the family of the victim(s). As your insurance agency, we strongly encourage you to carry the higher liability limits that are offered, as the minimum or low limits may be inadequate when considering the wrongful death law.
